It is my earnest desire to invite young Olympians from around the world to Tokyo to experience what I felt and learned as a young athlete, and to impart the passionate emotions and the vitality of the Olympic Games to young people from all countries of the world.
Tokyo has an excellent urban infrastructure with world’s best transportation networks and accommodation, and it is one of the world’s most advanced cities in terms of sports,environment, and public safety.
During your visit, I am sure that you will fully understand why Tokyo would be an excellent choice as the Host City of the Olympic and Paralympic Games.
Throughout your visit, it is important that we inspire you with the confidence that we can fulfil our responsibilities to host the Olympic and Paralympic Games in 2016.
- Physically in terms of buildings and infrastructure.
- Operationally in guaranteeing safe, secure and enjoyable Games.
- And of course, financially.
So, I will begin the process now with a firm commitment on behalf of the Government of Japan.
We will abide in full by every guarantee in the Candidate File.
We will ensure that whatever needs to be done, will be done.
Whatever needs to be built, will be built.
Whatever needs to be financed, will be financed.
That is our promise. Now, and in the years leading up to 2016.
かつて私が、一人の若いアスリートとして感じ、そして学んだことを、是非ともこの東京の地で、世界のあらゆる国の若い競技者に感じてもらいたい。そして、世界中の若者に、オリンピックゲームの持つ情熱と活力を、お伝えしたい。これが、私の真剣な願いです。
東京は、世界最高の交通ネットワークや宿泊施設など、優れた都市インフラを有するとともに、スポーツ、環境、そして治安の面で、世界で最も進んでいる都市です。
今回の視察により、東京が、オリンピック開催地としてふさわしい都市であることが、十分ご理解いただけるものと確信しています。
この視察において重要なことは、我々が、２０１６年オリンピック・パラリンピック競技大会をホストするにあたり、その責任を完遂できることを、皆様にご理解いただくことだと存じます。それは、
・ 施設やインフラといった、物理的な面で、
・ 安心、安全で誰もが楽しめる大会を保証するという運営面で、
・ そしてもちろん、財務面で。
まずは私が、日本国政府を代表いたしまして、揺るぎない決意をもって始めたいと思います。
我々は、立候補ファイルにあるいずれのお約束も必ず守ります。
我々は、すべきことは、必ずします。
建てるべきものは、建てます。
必要な資金は、手当します。
これは、今、そして、２０１６年まで続いていく、我々の約束です。
